UEFA Europa League - Group stage, Match day 1

UEFA Europa League

Group stage - Match day 1

Thursday: 20-Sep

[UEFA.COM]

This is the first time since the 2002-03 season Inter doesn't the UEFA Champions League group stages, a competition most Inter fans believe they are accustomed to. After winning the UCL in the 2009-10 season, Inter have suffered in adapting to the competition. Neither Rafa Benitez, Leonardo, Gasperini, Ranieri, nor Stramaccioni were able to, either, win, reach the semis, or even reach the group stage. Since I mentioned the 09-10 UCL, it is good to notice that Inter and Rubin Kazan faced each other during that season in the group stages. Inter faced lots of problems when they traveled to Russia in match day 2 that season, and they collected a difficult point. And Inter won at the Meazza in match day 6 (with Balotelli's stunning strike) to secure a spot in the round-of-16. This year though it's different, Inter aren't showing good indicators while playing at the Meazza. They conceded 7 goals, and scored 3 goals only (in EL and Serie A). It's going to be a tough one for Stramaccioni's side, and Rubin are always there to ruin what seems to be an "easy catch."
Prediction: Inter 1-1 Rubin Kazan

[UEFA.COM]

Tottenham won their first match in the EPL in week #4 against new-boys Reading, with Gareth Bale and Defoe putting a show. While their opponents on Thursday (Lazio) have a 100% record in Serie A (3 wins in 3 games); and that's also a historical record for Rome's eagles. Now, let's see why Lazio can create lots of problems for Spurs and their defence: Hernanes and Klose, those two are becoming a dynamic duo; they scored 8 of Lazio's 12 goals (official matches) in the 2012-13 season. Second, Lazio's unbeaten (no loss no draw) record until now in, both, Serie A and EL. Finally, the Petković factor; this coach is impressing football fans around Italy today. He is not backing down from any challenge, and he made history with Lazio (as I mentioned) when he won the opening 3 games in Serie A... Even the 1999-2000 Lazio didn't do it!
Prediction: Tottenham 1-3 Lazio

[UEFA.COM]

Fenerbahce, one of the most interesting, yet controversial, squads in Europe today. A team that almost reached the UCL group stages this season, if it wasn't for Spartak Moscow's heroics. Fenerbahce have signed with many excellent players, like: Kuyt, Krasic, Sow, and Meireles. This team can reach far in this season's El, and Marseille better watch out. Marseille, who won all of their 5 matches in Ligue 1 this season, are going to give all the effort to defeat Fenerbahce on Thursday. It's going to be an interesting game, game of the week!
Prediction: Fenerbahce 3-2 Marseille

Chelsea FC vs Juventus FC, UEFA Champions League - Match day 1

[UEFA.COM]

UEFA Champions League

Match day 1

Stamford Bridge, Wednesday: 19-Sep

Unbeaten Serie A champions visit UCL title holders:-
Juventus, the reigning Italian champions. Unbeaten in Serie A since May-2011, a team that regained it's power, dignity, and pride thanks to great management and players. Juve is one of only 2 Italian teams in this season's UCL (along with AC Milan), and they'll do what it takes to reach far in this competition! In the other corner, we have the reigning UCL champions; Chelsea!!! A team that surprised everyone, even their own spectators last season. A good squad that just got better this season, with the addition of Hazard, Marín, and Oscar... Chelsea are stronger than ever.

Di Matteo vs Conte ... Young Italian history makers:-
Di Matteo, the interim coach who shocked the world last season. Winning to major trophies in months; but most importantly (of these trophies) is the Champions League title. An accomplishment Mourinho, Grant, Scolari, Hiddink, Ancelotti, and Villas-Boas couldn't manage while at Chelsea. This guy is young and talented, and in the future he may be named as Italy's coach.
Antonio Conte, or as Mourinho calls him "the Italian Special One." A coach that resurrected Juve, and lead to their 28th league title unbeaten. What makes this guy interesting is the way he handles every match, the way he transforms his playing style. And he's going to "bedazzle" us once again this Wednesday, and he's gonna do it perfectly!

Prediction:-
Conte can't be on the bench during UCL games also, well that's a bit unsatisfying for Juve! But, as I said before, since this guy is coaching Juve on the training ground and his assistant does what he (Conte) says... Then there's nothing to worry about Juve fans.
Chelsea FC 1-2 Juventus FC

Real Madrid CF vs Manchester City FC, UEFA Champions League - Match day 1

[UEFA.COM]

UEFA Champions League

Match day 1

Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Tuesday: 18-Sep

1st match in the "Group of Death":-
The "Group of Death" indeed! And match day 1 couldn't be more "deadly" for, both, Real Madrid and Man City. This group is so "deadly" even both teams couldn't win their league games on the weekend, and they all have great squads. Mourinho and Mancini have one thing in common, they once coached Inter. And I know how both managed in these crucial times! Mourinho is somewhat a "give me a second round spot, and I'll be happy coach", and does what he does best in the knockout phase... And that's winning! While Mancini can collect the whole 18 points in the group stage and gets knocked out in the round-of-16. But that wasn't they case last season, Mourinho did a splendid job in collecting the whole 18 points, and got knocked out in the semis against Bayern (PKs). In the other hand, Mancini was knocked out from the group stages; and then knocked out by Sporting in the EL! Well, both managers ended up winning their domestic titles, though.

Awful weekend for both... Who will rise?:-
Let's begin with the hosts, Real Madrid. They lost Sevilla in a match were, personally, I thought they were gonna prevail easily. Some of Mourinho's men shown lack of interest in playing during that match, and others just didn't know how to score (get it, Gonzalo?). I just read that Sevilla's coach (Michel) told Marca radio that "Real Madrid will bounce back and beat Man City 3-0." Well, that's you're opinion Mr. Michel, but 3-0 against the EPL champions isn't that easy. Moving on to the guests, Man City. Mancini claims that Crouch "must join the NBA" after his goal in the 1-1 draw; but I have a question for you Mr. Mancini: why criticise while not being able to win? I mean Crouch's goal wasn't a last minute equaliser, or even a winner. You have a squad that can win any league title in the world; heck, even Man City's subs can win the Serie A!
To answer the question "who will rise?", I believe Real Madrid can win... But not as easy as Michel claims!

Prediction:-
It's gonna be a great match, take my word! Only if Mancini didn't play the old Italian "Catenaccio" style to earn a point at the Bernabéu. Mourinho MUST do what Sir Alex Ferguson did in the past against stubborn English sides, play CR7 as a CF! That way you'll win.
Real Madrid CF 2-1 Manchester City FC

PSG vs D. Kiev, UEFA Champions League - Match day 1

[UEFA.COM]

UEFA Champions League

Match day 1

Parc des Princes, Tuesday: 18-Sep

Welcome back PSG:-
This is the first time PSG reaches the UCL group phase since the 2004-05 season, but this time with a star-studded squad. Last time PSG were in the UCL they didn't manage to reach the knock-out stages, while this time, in my opinion, they'll do so. The UCL competition needs more teams like PSG, teams who are willing to create more competition; even though it's tough to win it all, but competing against teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and others (with PSG's squad) is good for the spectators.

D. Kiev's experience in the competition... Watch out Carlo!:-
Although Ukrainian legend Shevchenko decided to hang his boots after the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament, still, D. Kiev are well experienced in this competition. Also, D. Kiev acquired many good players (i.e. Taiwo and Veloso); this will make Kiev examine whether Carlo Ancelotti's side are capable of handling this prestigious competition's pressure!

Ibra and UCL taboo:-
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, arguably the best versatile attacker in football today. A player with great body-balance, powerful right foot, and flexible body movement. But, this guy is "oh so unlucky" in this competition. We all know how he tried to win it with Juve, Inter, Barça, and Milan... But he couldn't!
I believe in awkward football moments/situations. Let me give you an example: since the 2004-05 season, Chelsea FC were always candidates to win the UCL. Until the day they decided a new project when sacking Carlo Ancelotti and hiring Villas-Boas; if you told anyone that Chelsea FC were candidates to win the UCL in February, that person would think that "you're out of your mind." What happened in May? Chelsea FC defeated B. Munich at the Allianz Arena and claimed the title!
Will this scenario happen to Ibra at PSG? Who knows!!!

Prediction:-
PSG will face lots of problems due to pressure, and if they wanted Ibra to do everything... Then their gonna be upset. I'm not saying Ibra can't shine, but putting all the pressure on his shoulders early in the competition won't do you any favours. All-in-all, I believe will somehow manage a victory!
PSG 2-1 D. Kiev

NFL, week 2 ... Great games, but no surprises!

Week #2

Sunday: Sep-16th and Monday: Sep-17th

Sunday: Sep-16th:-

Buccaneers @ NY Giants
Disappointing start to the regular season for the reigning SB champions after their loss in the season opener against the Cowboys, but this doesn't mean Eli Manning and his crew will suffer another loss in Jersey. I believe this is the week were Eli regains his playoff strength and demolishes the Bucs.
Prediction: NY Giants (comfortable win)

Raiders @ Dolphins
The Raiders lost to a well organised Chargers team last Monday is Oakland, but let's keep in mind how Palmer tried his best to make a comeback. This determination from Palmer will payoff this week against a "wounded" Miami Dolphins side, the Dolphins haven't shown a lot of resiliency in the past couple of years... And they won't this season too!
Prediction: Raiders (Slight, but somewhat comfortable)

Texans @ Jaguars
Let me compare the two QBs' performances from last week, Gabbert (Jags) threw for 260 yards, and 2 TDs; while Shaub (Texans) had 6 more yards than Gabbert and 1 TD. It's a close one folks!
BUT, since the Jags lost to the Vikings in OT in Minneapolis; and the Texans beat the "wounded" Dolphins in Houston... I believe the Jags will make their fans go home happy after their season opener at home!
Prediction: Jaguars (A close call, intresting game)

Browns @ Bengals
As I like to call it: Ohio's Derby. The Browns gave the Falcons a hard fought battle last week, but still... They lost! And the Bengals!!! Oh my God. They were dominated by Flacco and the Ravens last Monday. So, we come to the conclusion that both teams have defensive issues. Also, I want to see if the Bengals' coach realised that Dalton's decision during 3rd down is awful. Weeden, since getting under the American flag last week; I believe your going to the ground more often this week.
Prediction: Bengals (Slight difference, maybe OT)

Chiefs @ Bills
I don't know about this one, in one hand we have a QB who threw 258 yards and 1 TD (Cassel/Chiefs) and in the other we have a QB who threw 195 yards and 3 TDs (Fitzpatrick/Bills). It really confuses me, but I would go with more yardage; I know more TDs are better... But more yardage means accuracy, and I love accurate!
Prediction: Chiefs (Back and forth, slight difference)

Ravens @ Eagles
I was watching ESPN today, and I saw the Vick "not getting hurt issue." I agree with Skip Bayless about being pummelled during big games, and this is a HUGE game. I mean facing a no-huddle, accurate QB and a D-line that'll sack you in every play! Mr. Vick, in my opinion, man up! Because it's a long ride, sir.
Prediction: Ravens (Comfortable win)

Saints @ Panthers
RGIII did what no one can do last season, beat the Saints in New Orleans. Then what will Cam do to the Saints in Charlotte? Make the Saints' season 0-2, that's what's he's gonna do!
Cam Newton suffered last week from what I call: the beginning of the season laziness. But in week #2, and in front of a huge crowd in the season opener (in Charlotte)... He'll prevail.
Prediction: Panthers (Huge win)

Cardinals @ Patriots
Nothing much to say here! Brady's still got it, and he wants an unbeaten season in my opinion... And he can do it!
Prediction: Patriots (They won't lets the Cards score much)

Vikings @ Colts
Andrew Luck is a promising QB, and being the #1 pick in the draft supports my point. But, the Colts have a defensive line that isn't capable of winning a high-school trophy! This team reminds of certain soccer teams who acquire great attacking players, but have horrible defenders. The Vikings will take advantage of this, definitely!
Prediction: Vikings (Slight difference)

Redskins @ Rams
RB S. Jackson is in great ship nowadays, as I heard from an interview during the pre-season that he only has 5% body fat. This will definitely rock the Redskins D, but even though; the Redskins have RGIII. Can the Rams D-line handle RGIII's passes, running, or even fakes? No they can't.
Prediction: Redskins (Interesting game)

Cowboys @ Seahawks
Romo did this, Romo did that, Romo was outstanding against the Giants!!! Complimenting anyone that much after any game will absolutely have a negative effect next time. In my opinion, Tony Romo is not in the top 10 QBs today. If he was, he would at least helped the Cowboys reach 1 SB game. But, let's give him time... Not that much of time, we'll see what can he do this season!
Prediction: Cowboys (Slight difference... 1 or 2 points)

Jets @ Steelers
Sanchez, bringing Tim Tebow had it's impact... On you! The guy is playing every game as if it was the Super Bowl, and that's good for the Jets. Beating the Bills by a 20 point deficit; wow! Passing 266 yards and 3 TDs; wow! Great calls on every down; wow!
Next-up, the Steelers; WHOA!!! Look out Sanchez, this team's D want to prove a point after what Peyton did to them last week. And I believe Polamalu is ready, and he wants to sack QBs.
Big Ben, will throw a lot of TD passes in the game.
Prediction: Steelers (Easy win... Expect sack by the Steelers D)

Titans @ Chargers
Some teams in the NFL seem happy about their status, positively or negatively! And the Titans is one of the negative-status teams. Chargers, they will charge alright!
Predictions: Chargers (Comfortable win)

Lions @ 49ers
One of the most interesting games this week! We have Alex Smith against Matt Stafford, and Megatron against Crabtree. Most NFL analysts believe that the 49ers are Sb bound, I won't totally disagree; but there are many contenders... In the NFC East to be exact! Hence, the 49ers will cruise past the Lions!
Prediction: 49ers (Easy win)

Monday: Sep-17th:-

Broncos @ Falcons
I believe the Georgia dome hasn't witnessed a regular season game as this one in a long time, the first game for Peyton manning on the road since returning form injury. Last week, Peyton Manning just kept playing mind games with the Steelers' D... I mean he was CRAZY (In a good way)! Also, let's keep in mind that "Matty-Ice" gave us an excellent show last week when manhandled the Chiefs; as he almost completed 300 yards passing with 3 TDs. It's gonna be a good one!
Prediction: Broncos (Game of the week)

Getafe CF vs FC Barcelona ... La Liga week 4

Getafe CF vs FC Barcelona

La Liga, week #4

Saturday: 15-Sep-'12

Coliseum Alfonso Pérez @ 18:00 (GMT)

Barcelona always dominated, but slip-ups against Getafe cost a lot:-
Barcelona, the best football team in world today! I believe when Getafe's players, fans, and management read this statement they know they don't have a chance to win. But, last season Getafe were one of the reasons Barça didn't win the league; in my opinion. I know that Madrid deserved the title last season, and proved it by defeating Barça at the Camp Nou. BUT, Getafe was 1 of 3 teams (along with Osasuna and Real Madrid) to defeat Barça last season. My point is, a Barça slip-up against Getafe is always interesting for La Liga.

No pressure on Barça before and after this match:-
Barça will play against Spartak Moscow next Wednesday in the UCL, and they'll play this match against Getafe prior to Real Madrid's game against Sevilla FC. With all due respect to Spartak Moscow, they can't and won't do what Rubin Kazan did in the 2009-10 season when they defeated Barça at the Camp Nou. So, Vilanova won't be under pressure during the Getafe game. Plus, he has a full squad... Excluding Sanchez.

Getafe, the team that beat Madrid in week #2:-
I have a belief in football, if team X defeats team Y and team Z defeats team X; this doesn't mean team Z will beat team Y. Real Madrid and Barcelona are always title contenders, and every team wants to be on the cover of tomorrow's papers. As I mentioned above, maybe Real Madrid are the "victims" this season.

Call-ups:-
Getafe CF... Moya, Codina; Alexis, Mane, M. Torres, Lopo Garcia, D. Abraham, Valera; Lacen, Sarabia, Gavilan, P. Leon, D. Castro, Barrada, Michel, Xavi Torres; Alvaro, Colunga, Paco Alcacer.

FC Barcelona... Valdes, Alves, Pique, Puyol, Macherano, Song, Cesc, Xavi, Villa, Messi, Thiago, Pinto, Bartra, Sergio B, Pedro, Montoya, Adriano, Tello, Deulofeu.

Prediction:-
Barça will win it, surely. But the question is that can Barça score lots of goals? Maybe, but a 3 goal deficit is reasonable!
Getafe Cf 1-4 FC Barcelona

Sevilla FC vs Real Madrid CF ... La Liga week 4

Sevilla FC vs Real Madrid CF

La Liga, week #4

Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán @ 20:00 (GMT)

The Mourinho era, and Madrid's dominance:-
Since Jose Mourinho took control of Real Madrid in the 2010-11 season, the Blancos defeated Sevilla in every game (La Liga and Copa del Rey). Although Sevilla has 5 points and R. Madrid has 4, this doesn't mean they have the upper-hand. Madrid just solved the Ronaldo "issue", and we saw how he was laughing during training with Mourinho. I believe this game will interesting as always, but Sevilla don't stand a chance!

CR7 is angry, beware Sevilla:-
Okay, I mentioned that Ronaldo's issue's been solved with Madrid; but he will conquer and prove his worth to the Madrid management. He scored against Barça in the SuperCopa, and then did it twice against Granada in week #3.

Distractions, distractions! The UCL clash against Man. City + the Barça's 5 point deficit:-
This is, arguably, the best Real Madrid squad I've seen. I'm not underestimating the squads who won championships in the last 10-20 years, but this squad has, at least, 2 top-notch players in every position. And let's not forget Mourinho's factor! I know Man. City is a tough team, and they'll give us a good match against Real Madrid. But, there's a difference between Mourinho and Mancini. Mancini is the one who gets distracted, but Mourinho doesn't... Trust me! The one thing that'll distract all of Real Madrid is that if Barça defeated Getafe prior to their game!!!

Call-ups:-
Sevilla FC... Palop, Diego Lopez, Spahic, F. Navarro, Trochowski, Rakitic, J. Navas, Manu del Moral, Hervas, Kondogbia, Luna, Botia, Baba, Campaña, Medel, Cicinho, Cala, Maduro, Negredo.

Real Madrid CF... Casillas, Adan, Jesus; Ramos, Marcelo, Pepe, Arbeloa, Varane, Albiol; Khedira, Kaka', Özil, Xabi Alonso, Essien, Modric, Callejon, Di Maria; Ronaldo, Higuain, Benzema, Morata.

Prediction:-
Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldo! He'll be dominant in this match, a goal or two for him. As long as the bench is full, Madrid won't face problems event if they face Barça this Tuesday.
Sevilla FC 0-3 Real Madrid CF

AC Milan vs Atalanta BC ... Serie A week 3

AC Milan vs Atalanta BC

Serie A, week #3

Saturday: 15-Sep-'12

San Siro @ 18:45 (GMT)

It's the Red n' Black vs the Black n' Blue... Of Bergamo:-
The colours tell it all, Atalanta BC, the self-proclaimed "original nerazzurri", will face a team that loathes the black n' blue. This may be an indicator that AC Milan will dominate the match tonight!

The Pazzini factor, and the horrible Atalanta defence:-
"Il Pazzo" scored a hat-trick in Milan's week #2 game against a tough Bologna side, and I bet he'll be thirsty for more goals this week. The Atalanta defence hasn't been that good recently, but they have a brilliant GK (Consigli) who denied Cagliari 2 PKs. Add to the horrible defence part, Peluso won't play against Milan.

But... Can Milan's defence stop Denis?:-
Denis, a dangerous striker in Serie A. A player who can tremble most defences, and Milan's defence doesn't need more trembling! He will score against Milan, but can his teammates in defence manage to make his goal(s) count?

Call-ups:-
AC Milan...  Abbiati, Amelia, Gabriel; Abate, Acerbi, Antonini, Bonera, De Sciglio, Mesbah, Mexes, Yepes, Zapata; Ambrosini, Boateng, De Jong, Constant, Emanuelson, Flamini, Nocerino, Traorè; Bojan, El Shaarawy, Niang, Pazzini.

Atalanta BC... Bellini, Biondini, Bonaventura, Brivio, Cazzola, Cigarini, Consigli, De Luca, Denis, Ferri, Frezzolini, Lucchini, Manfredini, Matheu, Moralez, Parra, Polito, Raimondi, Scozzarella, Stendardo, Troisi.

Prediction:-
AC Milan has a good attacking line, with a "thirsty" Pazzini. But, can their defence manage to hold off Denis's threat? We'll have a good game in a 15 degree/c weather!
AC Milan 3-2 Atalanta BC

Genoa CFC vs Juventus FC ... Serie A week 3

 Genoa CFC vs Juventus FC

Serie A week #3

Sunday: 16-Sep-'12

Stadio Luigi Ferraris (Marassi) @ 13:00 (GMT)

Marassi, not the best venue for Juve:-
Since the 2006-07 season, the Stadio Luigi Ferraris (Marassi) hasn't been so kind to Juve (when playing against Genoa in Serie A). Also, Genoa CFC didn't lose to Juve last season; whether in Torino or Genova. But, let's keep in mind that Genoa CFC sold Palacio, Veloso, and Constant in the summer; this means Juve has a big chance in upsetting "Il Grifone".

Borriello, Immobile, and Vargas... A handfull for the Bianconeri:-
The first two players know Juve in some way, because they had a spell with the Italian giants. But can they come back an haunt Juve? Not THIS Juve! They'll be a threat, but threats don't always win. Because Juve is STRONG!!!

Conte, "con te" or without you... Juve is fearsome:-
The Bianconeri, 28 league titles... Last season they won the league unbeaten. This is all thanks to Antonio Conte, a legend as a player, and definitely he'll become a coaching legend. But, the charismatic coach is side-lined for the rest of the season; will it affect Juve negatively? No!

The "distracting" Champions League... Chelsea on Wednesday:-
Whoa! Didn't see that coming. In my opinion, Juve won't give much attention to the Chelsea game until they defeat Genoa. Although it's a bit distracting to some Juve faithful, but the players' mentality is bigger than getting distracted.

Prediction:-
Easy win for the Bianconeri, they have a great squad and they'll have the determination to continue their unbeaten streak in the Serie A.
Genoa CFC 0-3 Juventus FC

Torino FC vs FC Internazionale ... Serie A week 3

 Torino FC vs FC Internazionale

Serie A, week #3

Sunday: 16-Sep-'12

Stadio Olimpico di Torino @ 18:45 (GMT)

History is in Inter's side... In Torino:-
Since the 2001-02 season till our day, Inter haven't lost or drawn against Torino at the Olimpico (in Serie A of course). The last time Inter played against Torino at the Olimpico, Mourinho's side won 3-1 with definite ease. History will stand by Inter's side this time, only if Andrea Stramaccioni used the correct formation with the suitable players.

New line-ups?:-
Rumours spreading in Italy that "Strama" will play with Juan Jesus and Pereira from the beginning, well this means Strama will take a huge risk in keeping his sheet clean. Also, Torino will start in an attacking formation... A 4-2-4 to be exact. This will give the Inter midfield a huge test, don't know if they're going to pass!

Milito, Cassano, and Sneijder ... Or playing Coutinho?:-
Milito, Cassano, and Sneijder are dangerous to any defence in Italy, but playing them against a team who'll enter with a 4-2-4 formation is risky. The reason is that none of these 3 does his defensive duties, while Coutinho in the other hand will do such thing in order to get himself more starting call-ups.

Torino has excellent players in every position:-
From Gillet in GK to Bianchi in attack, Torino has good names in every position. Ogbonna is a good defender who'm will prove his value during this match; also, Torino's midfield is something to fear. Stevanovic and Cerci are young and talented, they can trouble the Nerazzurri! And let's not forget Meggiorini who played the match of his career last season against Inter when he was with Novara.

Prediction:-
As I said, if Strama entered with a reasonable formation and the players showed maturity Inter will win. If otherwise, Torino will emerge victorious... Easily!
Torino FC 2-2 FC Internazionale

Man. United vs Wigan Ath. .. Week # 4 EPL

Manchester United FC vs Wigan Athletic FC

English Premier League

Saturday, September 15th 2012

Old Trafford @ 14:00 (GMT)

United have history upper hand:-
Manchester United and Wigan, a match that the Red Devils dominated since the 2005-06 season whether it was at Old Trafford or the DW; but last season Wigan were responsible of holding Man. United during the last meters in title race.

Injury scares for United... I don't think so:-
RvP is ruled fit to face Wigan, along with Kagawa. RvP's injury during international duty scared the United faithful, since Rooney isn't fit enough... But "he (Rooney) is showing good signs" as Sir Alex claims!

Ali AlHabsi: How long can you survive the United threat at Old Trafford this time?:-
AlHabsi, arguably one of the best GK's in the EPL nowadays... But is he good enough to deny Man. United an easy win? I don't think so, RvP will show everyone that Sir Alex didn't make a mistake when he brought him to the Theatre of Dreams. He will do what he does best... SCORE WHEN HE WANTS!!!

Starting line-up, and Sir Alex's choices:-
In my opinion, Sir Alex is somewhat controversial regarding the starting line-up(s). And throughout my research about this match, it is rumoured that Welbeck and Chicharito will start against Wigan. Controversial? Yes, Sir... ALEX!

United... Intimidating attack, but a vulnerable defence:-
Although United scored 6 goals in 3 matches, let's not forget that they conceded 5. Man. United's defence may improve in the upcoming weeks, hence I believe they'll concede this time; al least once!

Prediction:-
Since we're in week #4, I think Man. United will ease past Wigan. Ali AlHabsi won't stand achance against RvP and co.
Man. United FC 3-1 Wigan Athletic

EPL week #4 .. Sat: 15-Sep, Sun: 16-Sep, and Mon: 17-Sep

Arsenal FC vs Southampton FC

English Premier League

Week #4 .. Saturday, 15-Sep-'12

Emirates Stadium @ 14:00 (GMT)

The Gunners began the first 2 weeks of the 2012-13 campaign with disappointing goal-less draws against Sunderland and Stoke City respectively, but they managed to gain their first goals and 3 points in week #3 away against Liverpool. This gives Arsene's men the momentum to go and demolish every opponent that'll face them (Arsenal), but, let's not forget that beating this Liverpool side at Anfield isn't THAT BIG OF AN ACCOMPLISHMENT because this is Liverpool's worst start since the 1962-63 season.
Okay, let's concentrate on this week's game! Southampton made life a living hell for both Manchester sides in week #1 and week #3, Southampton were on the verge of upsetting the EPL champions Man. City in week #1; but Nasri and co. didn't want to see that happen. Also, in week #3 Man. United were 3 minutes away to lose to the new comers. My point is that Wenger mustn't underestimate Southampton, this team is physical and knows how/when to score.
Giroud will try and score this week, but, in my opinion, he won't; the reason is that he'll have his mind set on Tuesday's clash against his former club (Montpellier). Cazorla and Podolski are lethal and can create a scoring chance any time during the game!

Prediction... Arsenal will face a lot of problems, but my feeling tells me Wenger won't let it slip that easy.
Arsenal FC 2-1 Southampton FC

PSG vs Toulouse FC (week #5), Friday: 14-Sep-'12

Paris St. Germain vs Toulouse FC

Week #5 of Ligue 1 .. Friday: 14-Sep-'12

Parc des Princes @ 18:45 (GMT)

Introduction...

In the last 3 matches in the Parc des Princes, in Ligue 1, PSG beat Toulouse (TFC) somewhat comfortably. But, I don't believe TFC will make easy this time; the reason is that TFC lie 4th in Ligue 1 with 8 points (2 wins and 2 draws)... And PSG have suffered to earn their first 3 points until week #4 against Lille. PSG are in 9th place (1 win and 3 draws).

Players to watch...

First, let's talk about the star-studded PSG. With Ibra ready for this match, I believe he's the biggest threat that the TFC defence will face. And if Ancelotti played with a 4-3-2-1 formation with Verratti and Thiago Motta in midfield, while Pastore returns to his usual role (attacking midfielder)... TFC will face lots of trouble during this encounter.
TFC has a promising young talent called Wisam Ben Yedder, he scored in 3 of the 4 games... He began with the equaliser against reigning champions Montpellier, and he also scored a last minute equaliser against new-comers Reims. Mousa Sissoko, Capoue, and Tabanou and definitely going to give Pastore, Ibra, and Menez a hard time to pass by them!!!

PSG, the Champions League, and the injury issues...

Thiago Silva is still injured, and critics in France say that Milan "knew that T. Silva has a severe injury, the same they did with Kaka' and Real Madrid." But, I believe T. Silva suffered this injury recently; during the 2012 Olympics to be exact. PSG's players will have their minds set on the UCL clash against Dinamo Kiev the upcoming Tuesday. This may have a negative effect on the players... And, especially, on the result against TFC.

PSG squad...
Sirigu, Areola; Alex, Camara, Jallet, Armand, Sakho, Maxwell; Chantome, Matuidi, Menez, Pastore, Rabiot, Verratti, Nene, Thiago Motta; Ibrahimovic, Gameiro, Hoarau.

Toulouse FC squad...
Ahamada, Blondel Zebina, Abdennour, Yago, M'Bengue, Ninkov, Akpa Akpro, Capoue, Mousa Sissoko, Didot, Tabanou, Sirieix, Regattin, Y. D. Braaten, Ben Yedder, Riviere.

Prediction...

This is a tough one, but I believe Ancelotti and Le Groupe Parisien will win it. PSG 2-0 TFC

NFL is back, and week 1 was amazing

As most of us witnessed an amazing week 1 of the NFL, and how the Dallas Cowboys stunned the reigning SB champions (NY Giants) in Jersey; I think that "America's Team" are willing to prove something to all of us this season. I'm not saying they're gonna win it all, but a playoff spot isn't impossible. Although, I believe the SB XLVII winner belongs to the NFC East!

Also, we saw a "no-huddle" return and triumph for legendary Payton Manning with his new team the Broncos and how he dominated the game against Big Ben and the Steelers. Manning threw 2 TD passes in the game and played "mind games" with the Steelers D; the way he spotted Polomalu's movements in the back and changing the play was just vintage Manning. The Broncos have a good chance of reaching the AFC championship game if they keep the same rhythm and listening to Manning. This guy is a 4 time MVP, he has many tricks up his sleeve that makes the Broncos' faithful dream and, most importantly, BELIEVE!

It's a bit early to talk about playoff candidates and SB XLVII winners, but something tells me that this season's elite will be known during the first couple of weeks... I know that injury risks are there; but come on, having 5 teams scoring 40+ points in week 1 gives us indicators that most teams that won in week 1 mean business. RG III and the Redskins just made the NFC East more competitive, Peyton's move to the Broncos gave the AFC something to talk about (although the Colts are in the AFC, but in my opinion Peyton with the Broncos is more exciting).

Thumbs-Up:-

- Tony Romo and the Cowboys beating the reigning SB Giants in Jersey.
- Peyton Manning's explosive comeback to the NFL with a great win over the Steelers.
- Joe Flacco's "no-huddle" game against the Bengals... He nailed them!!! (Thanks to Jim Caldwell)
- The 49ers huge blow to the Packers in Green Bay.
- DeMarcus Ware breaking the 100 sack record.
- David Akers and his 63 yard FG.
- Cobb's punt return TD.

Thumbs Down:-

- Andy Dalton's 3rd down conversions against the Ravens, all of them were horrible.
- The Bengals D.
- Victor Cruz's inability to hold the ball when passed to during crunch time.
- The Steelers' D failing to Peyton's "mind games".

My top 3 games for week 2 are... Browns @ Bengals (Ohio Derby), Ravens @ Eagles (QB/SB XLVII showdown), and Broncos @ Falcons (2nd big test for Peyton).

I'm back!!!

Hello everyone,

I'm back for the 2012-13 season of football (Serie A, EPL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League), NFL, MLB, NHL, and every sport you can imagine; except tennis :p

This season, I'll try to cover most of the sports I mentioned in a more analytical way... The predictions are still there, and if I had time, I'll post pictures and highlights of some games.

... So, here we go!!!

Super Bowl XLVI

Sunday, Feb-5th-2012
Lucas Oil Stadium
Indianapolis, IN

The biggest sporting event in the United States, the talk of the town, and the spectacle. Yes ladies and gentlemen, we reached that time of the year... It is time for the Super Bowl!!!

This year, the teams participating in Super Bowl XLVI aren't new to each other as they battles in Super Bowl XLII; where Eli Manning's New York Giants won. The Patriots' QB, Tom Brady, plays his fifth Super Bowl and can win his fourth ring. But, in my opinion, the Giants won't make life easy for the Patriots; I mean this team showed class and consistency all season long... Along with the playoffs! The Giants outplayed Dallas Cowboys in, both, Arlington and New York, they also humiliated the Falcons, and most importantly they defeated the reigning Super Bowl champions - Green Bay Packers (Who only lost once in the regular season).

My pick is the New York Giants. The reason is that they have a dominating defensive line, and one hell of an attacking team. My MVP pick goes to either Manning or Cruz.

Have your say and predict who'll win Super Bowl XLVI.

FC Internazionale x Parma FC (Serie A, Week 17)

FC Internazionale x Parma FC
Serie A, Week 17
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milano
Saturday: Jan-7th-2012

The Italian Serie A returns this week, and to kick off things it'll start with an always interesting game... Inter vs Parma. During the past decade, and beyond, the match ups between these two teams have been fascinating whether at the Giuseppe Meazza or the Tardini.

Inter are trying to come back from a horrible start to the 2011-12 season, and, for now, they're doing fine. Claudio Ranieri is giving his all even with the multiple injuries he has in his squad, and this match, in my opinion, will show us whether Inter needs reinforcements in this January transfer window or not.

On the other hand, Parma aren't doing good in the past five matches; as they drew in four and lost once. They have 19 points from 16 matches (5W/4D/7L), and stand in the 13th spot. But, never underestimate the "gialloblu" as they are known to make life tough to the big teams while playing away.

Inter's squad

GK: Julio Cesar, L. Castelazzi, and P. Orlandoni.

DF: J. Zanetti (c), Lucio, Maicon, A. Ranocchia, W. Samuel, D. Faraoni, and Y. Nagatomo.

MF: T. Mott, R. Alvarez, A. Poli, E. Cambiasso, J. Obi, and Coutinho.

FWD: G. Pazzini, D. Milito, M. Zarate, L. Castaignos.

Unfortunately, Parma FC's website didn't put the squad the team called-up for this showdown.

All-in-all, I believe Inter will edge past Parma; but it will be difficult!

Winner: Inter.
